AI & The University Working Group

AI and the University

This Working Group is co-sponsored by the Levan Institute for Humanities, Institute of Ethics & Trust in Computing, and the Humanities and Critical Code Studies Lab.

The sudden incursion of Generative AI into the university has upended long-standing pedagogical practices. At the same time, students have adopted the technology with unprecedented speed. How will the academic community adapt? What can humanities-centered inquiry contribute to the conversation?

Join us for creative and critical discussions of ways to respond to the arrival of AI into our daily university life.  We will discuss pedagogical approaches for deterrence, inclusion, and adaptation in this new technological moment.  We will also discuss the development of university programs that address AI in terms of ethics, creative potential, environmental and social impacts, and surveillance. We encourage the participation of faculty, staff, and students from Humanities, Social Science, Science and Technology Studies, and Engineering.
