A conversation with Lisa Bitel, professor of history.

Speaker Information

Speaker

Lisa Bitel

Lisa Bitel is professor of history and religion. Her work on early medieval Ireland and the religious history of early medieval Europe has compelled her to adopt a polymathic approach to research and critical thinking. Fragmentary and sparse documentary evidence make studying the history of this period particularly difficult, but Bitel applies insights from theoretical geography and archaeological evidence to paint remarkably complete pictures of saints' settlements, gender, and faith.
