Speaker Information

Speaker

Philip Ethington

A historian, political scientist, sociologist, cartographer and digital archivist, Professor Ethington’s current work is a global history of Los Angeles that goes back 13,000 years (yes, that’s thirteen-thousand!) and will be articulated in multimedia: a book/atlas, an online collaborative interactive version, and public art. He is the architect of the digitization of Los Angeles’ history and is setting the methodological standard for future historical digital archiving.
